Facelifting
(Rhytidectomy)
OVERVIEW OF THE PROCEDURE:
Facelifting is performed to improve the appearance of facial
skin making it look younger. The required effect is achieved
by lifting and removal of lax, excess skin. Additionally,
the swollen muscles and fatty tissue are placed back to their original
position. Through the procedure the whole face looks youthful,
the most spectacular results being visible on the neck and cheeks.
Rhytidectomy does not remove fine facial wrinkles, the so
called mimic wrinkles. To the effect of fina lines reduction, eg.
those around the mouth or eyes, other techniques are used - deep
peels (EXODERM,WEEKEND-PEEL), smoothing the skin texture
with the injections of substances: AQUAMID, BOTOX. The incisions
are made in the natural creases of the skin in the frontal part
of the ear and up to direction of the the temples, and behind ear,
in the hairline direction. Facelifting can be performed with
local or general anaesthesia. Long hospitalisation is not required.
In most cases patients may return home on the day of the procedure.
HOW
LONG DO YOU HAVE TO STAY IN THE CLINIC:
The post-surgery hospitalisation lasts one day. For 2-3 days fluid
diet is recommended. Stitches in front of ears are removed within
3-4 days after the surgical treatment. Hair can be washed 5 days
after the procedure, which is also the day when certain limited
social activity is already possible. Removal of the remaining stitches
within 7-10 days after the procedure.
RECOVERY
TIME:
Standard social activity is possible 14-16 days after the surgery.
The post-surgical scars are hardly noticeable. They are hidden among
hair, whereas those in front of ear are located in the typical skin
crease in this area.
