Postpregnancy
plastic surgery:
Pregnancy does not mean that you can't look the same or even better
than before. Majority of women are positive about pregnancy and
they are happy when they become mothers. However, for some women
certain physical changes to the appearance that occur after the
pregnancy are not a reason to be happy. Fortunately, we do not
"have to learn" to love our "post-pregnancy"
figure as it was the case with our grandmothers and grand-grandmothers.
There are new ways of regaining the figure from before the pregnancy
or even improve it.
BREAST
ENLARGEMENT
Changes
in breasts occur already at the very early stages of pregnancy.
The mammary gland grows bigger getting ready for milk production.
After the child is bornthe gland contracts leaving an empty space,
which makes breasts appear less full. Plastic surgery offers
a safe and simple way of improving breasts appearance by
inserting implants. The operation can be performed under
general anaesthesia. Small incisions on the skin are hardly noticeable.
Usually incisions are made under breasts, around the nipple
aureola or in the arm pits. Implants can be inserted under
the mammary gland or breast muscle. Stitches are taken
out 7 days after the procedure.
MASTOPEXY
- breast liftup
This
procedure aims at lifting breasts by appropriately removing
excess of skin. The nipple and nipple-aureola positions change.
The post-operative scar can have the shape of I or inverted T
letter. In majority of cases the surgery is performed under general
anaesthesia.
ABDOMINOPLASTY
- tummy tuck
Excess
of skin in abdominal region is not the only post-pregnancy problem
that women have to cope with. A frequently occurring problem is
splitting of straight muscles of abdomen during pregnancy when
they need to support enlarged uterus. Very often the straight
muscles of abdomen do not join after the pregnancy weakening the
abdomen wall at this place. Another problem is stretch marks in
the abdominal region and around the navel. Abdominoplasty
consists in getting rid of the excess of abdominal skin (with
possible stretch marks), suturing the muscles, reinforcing the
abdominal wall and suturing tightened skin low at the supra-pubic
area.
LIPOSUCTION
- sucking off fat
Currently
this is the most frequently performed operation in cosmetic
surgery. Liposuction improves the appearance of abdomen,
thighs, buttocks... . Liposuction aims at modelling the
figure, reducing protuberances in hips, buttocks and abdominal
areas. The operation can be performed under general anaesthesia
or, in the case of small body areas, under local anaesthesia.
The procedure should be treated as complementary to going on a
diet. It is not recommended to very obese women although it can
encourage them to change their life style and lose some weight.
